Disparities territorial health prevention policies in Europe

Roselyne Bachelot, Minister of Health, Youth, Sports and Associative Life, has just received a report on "territorial disparities preventive health policies."

Recent studies show that France has many territorial disparities in health prevention. The north of France has for example a premature death rate higher with the causes of deaths related to risk behaviors.

For this reason the government had assigned last October to André Flajolet , member of the Pas-de-Calais on a mission territorial disparities in preventive health policies. "

Dependence: 2030 propective

A 2007 study by TNS Sofres for AXA and La Banque Postale Prevoyance, ALMOST quarter (23%) of the French state to have a dependent person in their family. Among them, more than half (54%) support it at least once a month in his daily activities and 16% every day.

For the situation in Europe, a team of Researchers calculated population projections dependent elderly until 2030, distinguishing different family situations. Joëlle Gaymu, who coordinated the team, gives us here the main results of the study.

* The research program FELICIE

FELICIE The research program aims to provide family contexts of tomorrow's elderly in a sample of nine European countries (Germany Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Czech Republic and United Kingdom).

A first set of population projections was calculated distinguishing the marital status of individuals and their change over time and generations. These projections have been used then
basis for calculating projections derived from two different scenarios of change in health status. In the first, the disability rate by age and marital status were held constant.

The second scenario assumes that all the years gained in life expectancy are healthy years. The rates of disability are declining in every age of about 20% by 2030. ... / ...


These projections do not include possible changes in bond between parents and children, desire for independence generations of residential, social norms or political guidance in support of dependence. Their goal is to show how changes in certain characteristics of seniors - in large part already included in the history of generations past - will transform their family background in both their structure and in their workforce ... / ...
